What is the difference between Warm White and Cool White LED colors?
Answer:
These are color temperatures and reflect the tint of the white light. Warm White is what you get from incandescent bulbs and is what most people are used to in their homes. Cool White is also known as daylight color and is what you would expect to find in office buildings or the same as the color produced by fluorescent bulbs. It looks very similar to the light you would see coming in your window during the daytime. Every color temperature can also be expressed in number form. You will find most warm white lights to have a color temperature around 3000k, while cool white, or daylight color temperatures will be 5000k or higher.
Which color temperature is best for me?
Answer:
It depends on where you plan to install it and on your personal preference. Take a look at the incandescent and fluorescent bulbs you currently have at home or in the office and note the difference in the tint of the light. You may want a warm color for your living room or TV room, but a cool color for your home office. Cool white lights will look brighter and would be good for a kitchen to help you wake up in the morning.
Can I put my solar panel anywhere?
Answer:
Your solar panel needs to be placed outside in a sunny area and needs to face the southern sky. If it is in the shade it will still charge, but not as well as in the sun. If it is behind glass, it may not charge properly.
What if the power cord isn’t long enough to suit my needs?
Answer:
15 foot extension cords are available from MAXSA Innovations. You can connect more than one if needed, however it is recommended that no more than three are used. You can check our 15 ft solar panel extension cord product page.
How long will my solar powered light stay on?
Answer:
If you have a dusk-to-dawn solar light, your light will activate when it gets dark and stay on all night or at least until the batteries are drained.
If you have a solar motion-activated security light, it will stay on as long as it detects motion and the battery has power. Each light can last for a different amount of time, depending on power usage and type of battery. If there is no motion, the light will turn off after 10 seconds to one minute, depending on where you set the TIME dial.
How long does my light need to charge before I can turn it on?
Answer:
You should do an initial charge of three days with the solar panel connected and the light switch in the OFF position. After that, you can switch the light to AUTO. It should charge enough during the day to last through every night.
Will the light stay on all night long?
Answer:
If you have one of our dusk-till-dawn lights, they will stay on all night or until they run out of power. They have energy saving switches that let you switch between full and half power.
If you have one of our motion-activated security lights, they are motion-activated only. They will stay on as long as they detect motion and the batteries have power.
How dark does it need to be for the light to start turning on?
Answer:
The dusk-till-dawn lights will turn on at dusk every night. This means it will be later in the summer and earlier in the winter.
The solar motion-activated security lights have adjustment dials so you can determine how dark it needs to be for the light to start to activate with motion. If you want the light turn on during the day and during the night, set the LUX dial towards the graphic of the Sun. If you want it to turn on only when it is very dark out, set the LUX dial towards the graphic of the Moon. You can set it anywhere between as well depending of the level of darkness you desire before the light turns on.
NOTE: If you have it set for very dark, any other lights that are nearby may prevent this light from turning on.
Will the light continue to work in extreme weather conditions?
Answer:
Our lights work best between temperatures of 20°F and 120°F. If it’s colder than 20°F, the batteries may not function as well, however they will resume normal function once it warms up. The lights are designed to withstand normal dirt and water exposure as well, but may be damaged by hurricanes and cannot be submerged in water.
Can I put my battery powered light anywhere?
Answer:
Yes! Since it runs off of battery-power, the only restrictions are it needs a place where it can be mounted and it cannot be submerged in a liquid.
How long will my battery powered light stay on?
Answer:
The light will stay on as long as it detects motion and the batteries have power. If there is no motion, the light will turn off after 30 seconds.
How dark does it need to be for my battery powered light to start turning on?
Answer:
If it is inside, it will activate if there is no direct lighting or daylight coming from the windows. If it is outside, the light will start to activate with motion at dusk and will continue to activate with motion until sunrise. It will not activate during daylight hours
Can I install my Recessed LED Downlight anywhere?
Answer:
The LED Retrofit Recessed LED Downlights are meant to be used with existing 5-6 inch recessed lighting cans. There are two brackets on the sides of each light that allow you to adjust for either a 5 or 6 inch can. These lights are suitable for damp locations such as bathrooms, but are not suitable for outdoor locations.
How bright are the LED downlights? Are they dimmable?
Answer:
The LED downlights are very bright. The Warm white version produces 920 lumens and the cool white version produces 1010 lumens. They are equivalent to what a 75 Watt incandescent bulb produces. However, our LED downlights only use 11 Watts so they use roughly 1/7th of the energy to produce the same amount of light. These lights are dimmable as long as you have a light switch with a dimming mechanism.
Do the Retrofit Recessed LED Downlights really last for 16 years?
Answer:
They should last, on average, for 36,000 hours. With normal use, this translates to roughly 16 years. If they are not used as often, they will last much longer. Conversely, if they are left on all the time, they may not last the full 16 years.
Can I put my hangers in any type of vehicle?
Answer:
You can put your hangers in any vehicle that has a headrest with accessible posts. For all models except the Coat Hangers (model 20022), you can hook them on to almost any type of post, even on non-automotive related items like a drying rack in your laundry room.
How much weight can each hanger hold?
Answer:
Each model is different. The Mini Hangers (model 20057) can hold 5 pounds per hook, or 10 pounds per hanger. The Headrest Multi-Hanger (Model 25524) is rated for 10 lbs per hook or 40 lbs total. The Coat Hanger (model 20022) can hold a heavy winter coat with other winter gear and travel items in the pockets.
Answer:
No. All edges are rounded or are covered in a soft rubber coating.
How many hangers can I put in my vehicle?
Answer:
It depends on your vehicle, but you can have up to two hangers per headrest with space behind the seat. So for a coupe or a sedan, the max is probably 4 hangers (two headrests). For an SUV or a van, you may be able to get up to 16 hangers (up to 8 headrests).
